Having surveyed Ruby Virtual Machine, I found the YARV project. YARV stands for 'Yer another Ruby VM'. Actullay the project was initiated in 2004 by a smart Japanese programmer named SASADA Koichi. The latest version is still 0.4.1, but I think this it the way to go because the current implementation of Ruby is really slow. However, I couldn't find much information on YARV except for a few presentation slides in YARV homepage. Most of discussions have been done in Japanese language. Do we need to learn Japanese to learn Ruby?

ARM에는 취직 자리가 없나 싶어서 기웃거리다가 브로셔만 몇 개 읽었습니다. ARM은 칩 만드는 회사지만, 자바 쪽으로도 이런 저런 제품을 많이 내놓고 있더군요. 물론 ARM 칩을 자바에 특화시키는 쪽이긴 하죠. VMA TECHNOLOGY KIT FOR THE JAVA™ PLATFORM 같은 경우 자바 인터프리터 루프를 ARM 프로세서에 특화된 어셈블리 구현으로 대체시켜서 최대 5배 이상의 성능 향상을 노리는 제품입니다. CLDC VM을 위한 VTK-K와 CDC VM을 위한 VTK-C가 모두 있군요.
